Meet Your Guide

What makes our tours better than the rest? Our guides!

New Orleans Secrets Tours was created by a small group of tour guides who continually strive to provide the best possible New Orleans experience to visitors and showcase the incredibly unique city of New Orleans…in a fun and engaging way. We call it “edutainment!”

We are locally-owned and operated, and we firmly believe in keeping our tour groups small while setting prices that are comparable to the larger-group tours. It’s about value: giving our tour guests a more intimate, high-quality experience without the luxury price tag. Most companies max out their tour group size at 28 people! Ours is just 8 to 10.

All of our tours offer history, laughs, and authenticity! Our goal is to ensure every guest has a great time and leaves New Orleans with a new-found love and appreciation of this historically and culturally significant city.

An Award-Winning and #1-Ranked Tour Company, we’ve been featured on the Travel Channel and National Geographic!
You can also find us in Frommer’s, USA Today, Vanity FairBusiness Traveller, U.S. News & World Report, Luxe Life, and more. Our guides have also consulted for such TV shows as NCIS: New Orleans (CBS), Mysteries of Genius (Discovery Channel), and Animal Secrets (Animal Planet).

Mark

Guide

Mark Aspiazu was born and raised in New Orleans. He graduated from Jesuit High school and then got his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of New Orleans. It was there that he realized that the for-profit education industry just wasn’t for him. His passion was New Orleans history, food and cocktails. Mark spent his weekends showing people around the city wishing he could do it full time. So he did. In 2014 he got his tour guide license and in December of 2015 he decide to make the leap from Campus President to full-time New Orleans tour guide and he hasn’t looked back since.

Angela

Guide

Angela might be from the midwest originally, but she never felt truly at home until moving to New Orleans. Always ready to see performing arts and eat delicious food, this former creative director cared little about history…until New Orleans. Now she has a voracious appetite for anything that relates to the city–historical or otherwise. When not on a tour, you’re likely to find her with her fiancé, Mark, trying out the latest restaurants, discussing New Orleans history and culture over cocktails, singing along at Fritzel’s on Bourbon, watching the Disney Channel, attempting to dance, acting on a TV/movie set, or indulging in her favorite activity: traveling.

James

Guide

James grew up in rural Mississippi – the blues, the Mississippi River, and Southern folklore are all in his blood.  At an early age, he set his sights on the big city of New Orleans. Following in the footsteps of an ancestor (a riverboat captain from the 1870s), he headed south and upon arriving in New Orleans knew immediately he had found his lifelong home.  A tour guide for the better part of a decade, James now boasts degrees in literature and French history as well as an encyclopedic knowledge of his adopted city’s history, culture, and legends.  In the last ten years, he’s been initiated into the traditions of New Orleans Voodoo, married a blues-singing Southern gal, and moved into an old family home on the west bank of the Mississippi river.

Brittawnée

Guide

A born performer hailing from California’s East Bay, Brittawnée (aka “Bert”) moved to New York to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Hofstra University’s prestigious modern dance program, where she graduated cum laude. A miscalculation of credits by her advisor meant completing several walking tours before receiving her degree; little did she know how serendipitous that would become, as those tours laid the foundation for her pursuits as a tour guide. Bert’s passion for food and cocktails led her to Brooklyn and the hospitality industry, where she tended bar for well over a decade. Always a history buff, she was fascinated by the origins of cocktails along with storied, haunted locales—Coney Island chief among them. But after just a few visits to New Orleans, the city’s past stole her imagination. Many spirited conversations across the bar top later, locals and travelers alike convinced her that it was time she make it official and turn her hobby into a new career! She spends her spare time engaging in community activism, watching classic films, and cutting a rug at every opportunity.

Roger

Guide

Roger Magee II is a tour guide brought to us by the USA. An army brat by both parents, Roger grew up in 7 states all across the country until his family decided to plant some roots in their homeland of the South. He attended school in MS, graduated w/a degree in Radio/TV/Film and ended up moving to New Orleans on a dare. He started out as a valet, then after spending a good bit of his valet career making fun of tour guides, he became one in 2016. He gives tours day & night, reads, enjoys exploring the city, and always loves hearing & telling a good story.

Tylyn

Guide

Tylyn is a New Orleans native who has recently returned to her home city. She attended the University of New Orleans film program, obtaining her MFA in 2015. Shortly after, she moved to Chicago and found herself telling people there all about the strange and wonderful city she came from. Upon returning, she fell even deeper in love with the city. Discovering how much she loved researching New Orleans history and telling people about what she learned, she decided to become a licensed tour guide. When not working, Tylyn enjoys watching & working on movies, playing her drums, and spending time with her two dogs – all while calculating just how much coffee is safe to drink per day.
