An Uptown Dinner Tour for Serious Foodies!
Looking for an authentic, local dinner experience that goes beyond our typical Creole cuisine? Want to get away from the tourists traps and eat where New Orleanians eat? Dine at some of the best restaurants in New Orleans as you stroll through one of New Orleans’ most beautiful and culinarily diverse Uptown neighborhoods: Audubon.
On this evening food tour experience, you’ll learn the history of the Audubon neighborhood and visit 3 of the best restaurants in New Orleans owned by award-winning and beloved chefs.
Come hungry, as this is an eating tour, not a tasting tour!
You’ll start with a cocktail at the remarkably comfortable St. Joe bar and then it’s right to the restaurants! This is a progressive-style dinner where you discuss the iconic chefs and eat their amazing food in a small-group setting. Once again: come hungry!
Other things to know:
These restaurants are casual but one is a bit upscale, so please no cut-off jeans or flip flops. No sleeveless shirts/tank tops or sandals for men.
There is very limited walking at just .35 miles (just over a quarter mile) with sitting in between, but do prepare for the weather.
This foodie tour cannot accommodate vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, seafood allergy, low salt, low fat, Kosher, dairy free, egg free, or gluten free diets.
This tour has a maximum of 9 people to enable us to provide a true VIP experience.
Where Do We Meet?
We will meet just outside of St. Joe’s Bar at 5535 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115. Look for your guide in our NO Secrets bright blue polo shirt when you arrive.
-
One of the restaurants is a bit upscale, so please no shorts, graphic t-shirts, or ripped clothing, and no open-toe shoes or tank tops for men.
-
Short answer: a lot! The longer answer is that it will be enough food for dinner, and most guests will leave quite full. For that reason, we advise you to come hungry!
-
We will start off with a special cocktail at our meeting spot, and water will be provided at every restaurant. If you wish to purchase additional beverages along the way, there will be plenty to tempt you! Each restaurant will settle up with you separately before we leave.
-
This experience is geared toward adults, but mature children are welcome to purchase a ticket. Only guests 21 and over will be served alcohol during the tour.
-
Not a problem at all! Just let us know when you book so we can alert the venues to have their ramps ready.
-
Your heart is certainly in the right place, but…nope! That is all included with your ticket price (and we take care of the wait staff very well!). The exception would be if you did decide to purchase additional drinks—then it would be customary to leave $1 or $2 per drink tip.
-
It is entirely up to you if you would like to leave gratuity for your guide at the end of the tour. Tips are a big part of a tour guide’s income in the United States, but they should be earned; in other words, you should be very happy with your guide’s performance! (If not, please contact our office by email or phone and let us know.) Standard tipping for tour guides is 15% to 20%, the same as it is for restaurant wait staff.
-
This dining experience cannot accommodate vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, low-salt, low-fat, Kosher, dairy-free, egg-free, or low/gluten-free diets. We also cannot guarantee that items have been prepared in peanut-free facilities. Please list any allergies on your booking reservation, and you are also welcome to call the office to discuss your specific requirements to see if this tour is a good fit.
-
Not at all! No raw meat, raw eggs, or mercury-rich fish will be served. (And congratulations!)
-
Yes! Just call or email the office to get the ball rolling.
-
If your group is larger than 9 people (or there are not enough tickets left for your group), please call or email the office and we can check on guide and venue availability for that date.
-
Absolutely! Our lovely, year-round flowers mean we are a sub-tropic climate, so we often get short rain showers, especially in the summer. Often the shower will be over by the time we are ready to head to the next stop, but please bring an umbrella or poncho if you are concerned about rain. If the weather is so severe that it becomes dangerous to be outside, we will call you to discuss options. If we cancel the tour due to severe weather, you will of course receive a full refund along with a bunch of restaurant recommendations for dinner. 😉
-
This tour takes place in the beautiful Audubon neighborhood by Audubon Park, which is 6 miles from the French Quarter. We recommend that guests Uber or taxi to the start of the tour. We will meet at St. Joe’s Bar located at 5535 Magazine Street. The Magazine Street Bus (route 11) and the St. Charles Streetcar lines run late and are great options for getting back to the French Quarter after the tour, for those who are not pressed for time.
-
All of our tours require that tickets be booked in advance. This tour caps at just 9 people, so we recommend booking early as space is very limited!
